Sitting at the edge of tawny-and-terracotta-coloured
Mto Wa Mbu escarpment, amidst an exuberant blanket of vegetation,
Lake Manyara Serena Lodge overlooks both the Great Rift Valley
and the glossy alkaline waters of Lake Manyara. The lodge's
architecture is rich in smooth curves that take inspiration
from traditional Maasai camps and the sweeping bird life of
the national park.
Accommodation consists of 54 guest rooms,
luxurious and well-appointed, each with an en-suite bathroom
and a private veranda with stunning views of Lake Manyara.
Cottages are conically-roofed and décor reflects both
the surrounding natural environment and the local artistic
tradition, with vivid murals that depict bird migratory patterns.
Public areas include a circular dinning room with indoor and
outdoor seating, a bar, lounge, and a swimming pool with a
vanishing horizon view over the Rift Valley.
Safari drives on 4WD are scheduled daily,
as well as canoeing safaris on Lake Manyara (with the possibility
to combine both into a complete camping-and-canoeing safari,
with an overnight stay in bush fly camps). Other activities
include boating trips around the lake, mountain biking around
the Park, and day trips to the Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire
National Park.
