Meaning Elephant's Head in Swahili, Kichwa
Tembo Camp is located just outside the Masai Mara National
Reserve, a few miles north of its furthermost northern corner.
The camp is found between the Oloololo Escarpment and the
Sabaringo River, deep in a forest swirling with blue and red-tailed
monkeys.
The camp actually consists of 2 different
accommodation facilities, a traditional 40-tent camp and a
more recent and exclusive bateleur camp (nine elegant tents
where you could even ask for a personal butler service). All
tents are stylish and spacious, complete with en suite bathrooms
with hot running water, and a great shaded veranda from where
to loose the sight in the rolling grassland plains.
The camp offers 2 daily game drives (early
in the morning and in the afternoon), as well as an optional
night drive in the private concession adjacent to the reserve.
Balloon safaris can be arranged as well.
