Located on the opposite bank of the Mara
river respect the other 2 Governor's Camps, the Little is
set around a watering-hole visited by thirsty giraffes, buffaloes,
elephants, and lions. To get there you need to cross the river
by boat and then walk a short distance through the forest,
escorted by armed guards: in other words, adventure right
form minute one.
The 17 tents are cosy and have en-suite bathrooms
with hot water. All overlook the bird-populated waterhole
and are lighted the safari-way: by gas and kerosene lantern
or candlelight.
As with other Governor's Camps, activities
are numerous: 3 daily game drives guided by expert resident
drivers, balloon safaris every morning (followed by a champagne
bush breakfast), and daily walking safaris in a private concession
area adjacent to the reserve. Moreover, visits to a nearby
Maasai village can be arranged, as well as day fishing excursions
to Lake Victoria and overnight expeditions to Mfangano Island
Camp.
