Located on the north-eastern edge of the
Masai Mara National Reserve, nearby the Sekenani gate, the
Sarova Mara Camp occupies an elevation bordered by two streams
and hidden amidst lush gardens and exotic flowers. The grounds
are surrounded by an electric fence (though there is not electricity
in the camp from 4pm to 6pm, and between midnight and 4am),
and it's not uncommon to see wildlife on the other side: wildebeest,
buffaloes, even a hyena or two.
The 75 tents are luxurious and pleasant,
complete with permanent floors and in suite stone bathrooms.
The excellent Isokon Restaurant offers a varied cuisine that
features great barbecues held by the swimming pool. Breakfast
and lunch are buffets, whilst dinner is a-la-carte. The Oloip
bar, on the ground floor, is perfect for an aperitif by the
cosy fireplace.
Daily game drives, birdwatching and nature
walks are offered, while balloon safaris can be arranged.
