A humble, down-to-earth lodge with a great
location, the Seronera Wildlife Lodge is ideally situated
at the heart of the Seronera River Valley, in one of the best
locations for game viewing. Indeed, the lodge site dates back
to the 1920s, when a semi-permanent camp was built for game
hunting, precisely on the wildebeest migratory route. And
first movers, as we know, get the best choose.
One of the largest lodges around, it has
75 double rooms with en-suite facilities: simple but clean.
The 2-story motel-like buildings leaves little space for great
views of the Serengeti plains, at least from the rooms. The
lobby and common areas feature a 70s style décor, and
are adorned with great kopjes where lizards and hyraxes wander
happily undisturbed. There is a bar open daily in the main
lounge area and a pretty good restaurant that offers either
buffet or a-la-carte meals, depending on occupancy. Bush dinners
and breakfast boxes can be arranged.
Seronera Wildlife Lodge offers many
game activities such as private game drives, nature walks
and hikes, balloon safaris, and bird watching. The location
for game viewing is, as we said above, unbeatable, though
the immediate game circuits of the central Serengeti area
can get pretty crowded during high season (in particular July
and August).
